CCSCT Awarded $300,000 “Fund for Veterans’ Assistance” Grant

Community Council of South Central Texas to provide financial assistance to area Veterans through partnership with the Texas Veterans Commission.

South Central, Texas: The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) announced that CCSCT’s, “Veterans’ Financial Assistance Program,” was selected as a 2024-2025 $300,000.00 General Assistance Grantee by the Texas Veterans Commission. This is  a fifty percent increase from the previous funding year, expanding service reach to six Big Bend Counties; Brewster, Culberson, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, and Presidio. Last funding cycle, CCSCT helped keep 85 Veteran families from homelessness with the generous support of the Commission.

Veteran’s Resource Coordinator, Kenneth Loy, expresses his gratitude for the funding by stating, “…thank you for making us fourth year recipients of the Texas Veteran’s Commission Grant- it always helps us make a good Veteran’s program, a great Veteran’s program.”

The, “Veterans’ Financial Assistance Program” helps eligible Veterans, Veteran Dependents, and Surviving Spouses. Through the program, CCSCT will assist beneficiaries with short-term and temporary financial emergency services to include: one-time utility payments (may include electric, gas, propane, water, sewer, trash, late fees) and one-time rental/mortgage payment (may include rent, mortgage, late fees, application fees, security deposits).

Potential clients may begin applying for assistance as early as July 1, 2024.

The Veterans’ Financial Assistance program is available to eligible applicants in 27 CCSCT service counties including:  Atascosa, Bandera, Brewster, Comal, Culberson, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Medina, Presidio, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala.
